2012 World Tea Expo Preview

In less than 48 hours we will be on a plane flying to Las Vegas for the 2012 World Tea Expo. The video above is a small preview of what we will get to experience.

World Tea Expo is the largest trade show and conference in the world for premium tea and related products; it’s the three days each year when industry professionals connect face-to-face to unveil new products, optimize high quality merchandise, gain in-depth product knowledge and network with peers.

They will also be celebrating the Expo's 10 year anniversary. Ten years ago, people said specialty tea was only a fad and that a tea-only trade show would never survive. They've been proven wrong.  Specialty tea is a viable, profitable industry that is leading the growth in teas' overall marketshare. And the expo is succesful in-part becasue it is a tea-only trade show. Can't wait to share with you what we've learned!

Can you say PURPLE?!?!

My mom sure can! For as long as I can remember that has been her most favorite color. Even my dad has come to love the color purple. Everyone that knows my mom knows purple is her favorite color. You can walk in my parent’s house this very second and see PURPLE everywhere. Kitchen, pictures hanging on the wall, decorations and even purple carpet.
I’ve learned that the color purple means royalty. It stands for luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also the color of passion, romance and sensitivity. Purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. I guess mom knew what she was doing when she picked her favorite color!
Where am I going with this post? Purple will be the main color used in the Tea Room. I can’t wait to post pictures of the Tea Room. It is going to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

*** FYI… The Tea List is posted for all YOU tea lovers out there.  A great tea suggestion is Strawberry Kiwi (hot or cold) it is YUMMY and so refreshing with summer in full swing!

In the coming weeks you will learn about my family and how we are helping my parents (Terry & Vickie) achieve their dream in opening up a Tea Room in our local area. You will get to ride along and see how much preparation and hard work goes into starting a business. Paint samples, tile samples, linens and lighting to name a few. You name it, I'm posting it! You will learn how my parents chose their business name. I will also be posting a tea list soon.

For as long as I can remember my mom (Vickie) has enjoyed drinking a cup of tea rather it be morning, noon or night. I remember her making hot tea for me as a small girl (sugar + carnation milk= YUM!). She and my dad have visited many Tea Rooms in the past years and she has a love for collecting teapots and teacups. It was no surprise to my sister (Tara) and I when our mom announced her wanting to open a "Tea Room" of her own.

Since January our parents (Terry & Vickie) have been hunting for the perfect location for their new adventure, collecting information, visiting several Tea Rooms and getting to know their owners, going to "Tea School" and overall just learning all they can about tea in general. It is exciting for my sister and me to see them not only find a hobby in their "golden years" let alone a business, but sharing this experience with them. All four of us will be flying out to Las Vegas next week for 3 jam packed days at The World Tea Expo! Can you say EXCITED??

1. I love to fly, but better than that I get to be with three of my favorite peeps!
2. I've never been to Las Vegas and I'm looking forward to seeing the fountains at The Bellagio Hotel.
3. Seeing my parents so excited about their business and learning all we can about being successful.
